The North Carolina Art Education Association held their annual conference virtually during the weekend of October 23-25. Mrs. Gordon, our art teacher and A+/Magnet Coordinator, attended the conference along with the WSFCS Arts Administrator, Penny Freeland, and a few other art teachers from the district.
Mrs. Gordon gave a workshop presentation on Saturday afternoon of the conference on the topic of Arts Integration in Math and Reading. The presentation included a powerpoint slideshow, project outline, and outlines referencing mathematical artists and art and literature connections.
During the awards ceremony, Jackeline Gomez was honored for winning the flag design contest for Youth Art Month.
We also had 6 students represented in the virtual student art exhibit with students from all over the state.
