Congratulations
to Ms. Jennifer Kennedy, our lead secretary, on her upcoming retirement.
Mrs. Kennedy was born and then grew up in
Salisbury, NC. Her parents were Roy and Jean Kennedy. She has two sisters. Sharon lives in
Montgomery, Alabama and is a Substance Abuse Counselor at the Federal Prison
Camp in Montgomery. Joy lives in Greenville, NC and works at East Carolina
University. Mrs. Kennedy has one son,
Lee. He is currently attending Rowan-Cabarrus
Community College and will transfer in the Spring to Winston-Salem State
University. Ms. Kennedy attended Rowan Technical College and graduated with a Data
Processing degree. She transferred to
Winston-Salem State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Ms. Kennedy began working at North Rowan High
School as the Library Clerk. She then transferred
to become the TIMS Operator for the District.
She was assigned to the Transportation Dept. to work with the schools to
help minimize bus routes for schools.
She worked for Rowan-Salisbury schools for seven years. She was the Lead Secretary for Diggs
Elementary School for fifteen years and the Lead/Financial Secretary for the
last ten years for Diggs-Latham Elementary School. When asked what she enjoyed
most about working in a school, Ms. Kennedy said multi-tasking and trying to keep
a smile on her face. She has also enjoyed
meeting different people throughout the years. During retirement,
Ms. Kennedy will continue to work but wants to volunteer more for different
agencies in her area.
