Old Salem Sertoma Club American Heritage Art Competition Winner

Each year, the Old Salem Sertoma Club holds an art competition for area 5th graders, and the competition encourages students to make connections with the history of America, particularly during the time of the Revolutionary War, Settlement of the Colonies or life between European Explorers and American Indians.  The artwork must be no larger than 8.5"x 11" in size and drawn with pen and ink, marker, pencil, colored pencil or watercolor.  Students are also asked to write an explanation of their drawing, explaining the history illustrated in their artwork.  We had 8 students enter their work along with 5th graders from school all over Winston-Salem/Forsyth County.  We are very pleased to announce that Juan Moreno, a 5th grader from our school, was selected as the 2nd place winner.  Juan, his family and Art Teacher, Mrs. Gordon, were invited to a celebration dinner at Bone Fish Grill.  Juan was recognized, gave a short talk about his artwork, and received a gift card.
