Arts-In-Education Week

Arts in Education Week is a national celebration recognizing the transformative power of the arts in education.  Arts education, comprising a rich array of disciplines including dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts, is a core academic subject and an essential element of a complete and balanced education.  This year is the 10th Anniversary of the Celebration.

Even though we are currently virtual, we planned a week of celebrations, events, activities and social media tributes in celebration of the Arts.  We are very fortunate and excited that we are an A+ Magnet School that teaches through the arts and offers a variety of Arts classes daily.

Students were invited to participate in an Essay and Poster Contest to illustrate or write about "Why Arts-In-Education Week is Important or Meaningful" to them.

In the middle of the week, we participated in the virtual, National Talk from "Americans for the Arts" in honor of Arts-in-Education Week.

Our school Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts stayed alive and busy throughout the week with photos, videos and other tributes of how the Arts impact our students and teachers.

Arts Specialists as well as a few classroom and Special Ed teachers created tribute video clips that explained how the arts daily impact their instruction and support academic learning for a broad range of children.
