The Diggs-Latham School Family welcomes Dr. Cassandra Dobson to “Tigerland” as our new principal.
Dr. Cassandra Dobson has served as the assistant principal at Ibraham Elementary School since 2018. She had been the assistant principal at Konnoak Elementary from 2013-2018. Earlier in her career, she served as the Learning Team Facilitator at Speas Elementary for one year. Prior to working in administration, Dr. Dobson was a teacher’s assistant and then taught for more than 10 years at North Hills and Mineral Springs elementary schools, while also completing her National Boards for Professional Teaching Standards during this time.
Dr. Dobson received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and obtained a Master’s degree form Winston-Salem State University. She was also a participant in the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy and then completed her Doctorate of Education from Gardner-Webb University in 2017. Dr. Dobson has been a part of the National Institute for School Leadership, receiving recognition for her strong support for educators. She has also served with the North Carolina Association of Educators as a National Regional Lead for National Board Certified Teachers and provided support as well as recognition for other talented educators.
Dr. Dobson grew up in the Caswell County area but currently resides in Pinnacle, just north of Winston-Salem. She is married and has 3 adult children, two who are also working in education. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren as well as reading, listening to music, socializing with friends, and spending time with the family dog. She has a strong faith and enjoys inspirational quotes. Her favorite color is dark green and her favorite foods are fruits, nuts and green tea.
Dr. Dobson is excited to join our school family and become part of the community. She has a strong focus on academics and enjoys teaching model lessons. Dr. Dobson has a heart for children. She will also be an asset to our school as she has worked closely with students in the English-as-a-Second-Language programs. She has worked at four different Magnet schools and has an understanding and appreciation for integration and its benefits. Dr. Dobson believes that every child has a gift; we simply need to help them find it. Dr. Dobson is no stranger to Diggs-Latham; she completed her administrative internship with us in 2011.
