Books, Books & More Books

Kindergarten and First Grade students were excited to receive a new, hardcover book of their own to take home, especially during winter break.

Kindergarten students recently received a copy of Dr. Seuss's "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" and First Grade students received "Green Eggs and Ham."

Our Band/Music Teacher, Mr. Sigler, was the spearhead behind making this literacy project happen.  Mr. Sigler has been teaching for 24 years, the majority of his time in high school in marching band, but has now been at our school teaching elementary for 5 years.  Mr. Sigler has found a home in working with younger students who are learning the fundamentals of music and just beginning to develop skills as musicians.  He also sees the importance in making connections between Music and all other Arts and Academic subjects in school to keep learning relevant for students, integrate, and support his colleagues.

Mr. Sigler funded the project and gathered resources through a social media fundraiser around Giving Tuesday.  Members of the community, friends and family of the school, as well as colleagues and friends who know Mr. Sigler through his civic and church responsibilities contributed to this fundraiser project.

Mr. Sigler is known for aiming to teach, support and develop the whole child.  Not only does he want his students to become skilled musicians, but he also wants to help teach them academic and social skills to make them well-rounded citizens of the world.

Thank you Mr. Sigler for your continuous support of students and our school as a whole.
