Mr. Sigler Attended NCCAT

Our Music/Band Teacher, Mr. Rick Sigler, was chosen for a special teacher professional development seminar at NCCAT.  NCCAT is the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching.  NCCAT has a campus in western North Carolina as well as in Eastern North Carolina.  In fact, they pride themselves on representing and supporting North Carolina teachers from the mountains to the sea.

THE NCCAT Vision: NCCAT helps North Carolina teachers grow in knowledge, skills, compassion, and professionalism so that students become engaged, self-motivated, and successful.

In mid-November, Mr. Sigler attended a seminar entitled, "Literacy Strategies for Specialist Teachers."  Since we are an A+ School as part of our Magnet theme and continuously look for ways to integrate the Arts and Academic Curriculum, Mr. Sigler hoped to further his knowledge and skills in integrating literacy deliberately into his lessons and activities.  Mr. Sigler is known for making videos to help classroom teachers make connections and integrate the arts. He also utilizes literacy skills, especially when exploring parts of songs or retelling the story heard in a song.

Congratulations again to Mr. Sigler for this opportunity to advance his skills, support our A+ Magnet theme, and gather knowledge to share with his Team and other colleagues.
